It hasn’t gone away you know – The Story

It hasn’t gone away you know – The Story: I acknowledge that there are genuine concerns that the provision might be used by some on the administrative side of the house to implement a charging system that is not intended. To that end, with the permission of the committee, I propose to withdraw the amendment and, in co-operation with my officials, devise a form of wording to take it beyond confusion, doubt or misinterpretation that what I have set out is what I intend to be achieved?

A True Life Story of Life in an Irish Industrial School

A True Life Story of Life in an Irish Industrial School: Because of the grammar??? Are you serious???? This man tells the story as he knows it and YOU are more concerned with the grammar than the words… Shocked really! These boys were taught how to break rocks, how to hold their breath under water long enough to not drown under the “brothers” hands, how to survive on morsels, how to not tell of the sexual violence they endured, how to wake up every morning feeling un-loved and forgotten by their families. These boys were NOT taught grammar in their “school”. My father was in Letterfrack from 12-16 years of age, sadly he has suffered to this day having never dealt with his childhood… Nobody should ever correct a suffering, dying inside man! Shame on you!!!?

Mary Lou’s 20-minute wonder underlines the need for top official to explain Gardagate – for his own sake: So far all we’ve heard from Purcell on the matter is a six-page memo issued on 1 April (above). Mary Lou’s 20-minute wonder underlines the need for top official to explain Gardagate – for his own sake

Mary Lou’s 20-minute wonder underlines the need for top official to explain Gardagate – for his own sake: Purcell is a veteran of the public service. As an executive officer in the Department of Social Welfare in the 1980s he famously went where others dared not by signing the papers which cut off Martin ‘The General’ Cahill’s dole. The criminal boss later kidnapped Purcell and shot him in the legs twice.

Purcell later became head of the Irish Prison Service where his reforms would earn him the role of top civil servant in the Department of Justice in July 2011. But his tenure there, much like Shatter’s, has been riddled with problems not least the handling of the garda whistleblowers.?
