John Lonergan: “Our treatment of children has been appalling”

John Lonergan: “Our treatment of children has been appalling”: "The failure of the State AFTER it intervened in children’s lives and families is woeful: In one night 35 children were suffocated and died after they were locked into a dormitory. The State’s reaction to that was to increase the amount of fire drills in Industrial schools! No prosecutions. No statements or declarations that the State (or its agents) were unfit to care for children. None of the dead children were from criminal or drug addled families. These children were from socially and economically deprived families."?
